11/15
Images marked usable
BONUS FIELD NOTES · OCTOBER 2026

Bonus field notes · Five AI pilots

Perchance gave us 11 usable images out of 15. That is a narrow win.

Eleven accepted images out of fifteen is enough to earn another look. It is not enough to say a free image workflow beats a paid one.

Sam reviewed a small batch of Perchance outputs for generic reel backgrounds. The pass condition was ten usable images out of fifteen. He marked eleven usable, so this candidate cleared that particular bar.

What was in the batch

The five briefs covered a treatment room, an abstract sound wave, a desk workspace, a still life and a landscape. Each brief produced four outputs because the interface did not offer a three-image batch. The scoring rule was fixed to the first three outputs per brief, leaving the fourth as an unscored extra. That prevented choosing the nicest three after looking at all four.

The workflow used the Professional Photo style. That style changes the generation input, so a future comparison needs to account for it. This was also a visible, candidate-only review: Sam knew which tool made the images.

Generated treatment-room background accepted by Sam

An accepted generic background. This is an AI-generated room, not a photograph of the clinic.

Where it missed

Two workspace images failed on keyboard appearance. Sam also rejected a sound-wave image as too flat and a landscape because the distant mountains did not look right. Those are recorded review reasons, not an inferred technical diagnosis of the generator.

Generated workspace rejected because the keyboard looked off

One of the rejected workspace outputs. Small structural details mattered even in background imagery.

I would begin with the kinds of images that passed this review: generic rooms and still-life backgrounds, inspected before use. I would give objects with repeated detail, such as keyboard keys, extra attention. Fifteen images cannot establish a reliable category-wide success rate.

Why this is a manual-use recommendation

The matched Higgsfield baseline was not generated because the available credit balance was insufficient. I have no basis here for a paid-versus-free quality, cost-per-usable-image or time-savings claim.

There is a separate access issue. The Perchance terms, checked October 9, allow commercial use of generated images in the FAQ, while section 3(5) prohibits automated or non-human access. I am therefore treating this as a manual-use candidate, not a cleared automated asset source.

My verdict is a qualified yes to trying it for generic backgrounds. The next useful comparison would use matched briefs, a blind review and the full effort required to obtain usable images. Until then, eleven accepted outputs are the finding. A replacement for the paid workflow is not.
